Fire Safety Has Come A Long Way In The Last 100 Years!

Poudre Fire Authority wants to make sure our residents have the equipment they need to be safe from fires. That's why we install smoke alarms, free of charge, to those who cannot afford them. (For more information, check out our Smoke Alarm Program.)

Since we're celebrating so many milestones this year, it's a great time for the community to consider its safety and ask "Is my smoke alarm older than the PFA?" If it is, than we've got a great opportunity for you to get with the times! (and win some cool PFA gear while you're at it.)

How it works:

Step 1: You take a picture of your old smoke alarm and submit it on the bottom of this page. The photo must be of a smoke alarm that is currently on a wall or ceiling of your home or business. The smoke alarm must be the main focus of the photo.

Step 2: If it's old enough, we'll send a crew to replace your old alarm with a shiny new one.

Did you know? Smoke alarms only last ten years, so that old one wasn't really protecting you anyway.

Step 3: We will enter your outdated alarm into a competition. If it's the oldest entry, you win! Prizes will be awarded at the Commemoration Year Fire Festival on September 20th.

1st Place: A commemorative PFA T-shirt, mug and 1-pint water glass AND a limited edition PFA challenge coin.

2nd Place: A commemorative PFA T-Shirt, and choice of mug or 1-pint water glass.

3rd Place: Choice of a PFA mug or 1-pint water glass.
